A bean bag bed is one of those wonderful additions to your set of furniture. It can serve as a chair, couch, and naturally, a bed, all at the same time. They are especially useful if you have a couple of friends or relatives who decided to spend the night at your house and you discovered that you do not have any spare beds. In fact, having a bean bag bed, which also serves as a couch in your living area, is very convenient since you could immediately flop on it after you arrive home from work. The soothing feeling that it can give you is enough to take away the stress that you felt because of long working hours.
Bean bag beds are made of tiny beads of expanded polystyrene, or EPS, which is then hemmed in with a strong fabric. The size of the beads varies, depending on the manufacturer of the bean bag bed, with measurements ranging between one to nine millimeters. These are then packed loosely inside a huge bag which is then held in place with a strong zipper and again placed inside an outer bag, also made of beautifully designed fabric, and once again sealed in tightly with another zipper or Velcro straps.
The secret of the bean bag beds lie in the thousands of EPS beads inside it. As you put your body frame on the bag, the EPS beads begin to move around and adjust to the different weights spread around your structure. In effect, it tries to envelope your whole body in a comfortable array, bringing relief and calm to your sore muscles. Since the EPS beads are they are loosely packed, they allow air to pass through it resulting in a cool and soothing feeling that would immediately lull you to sleep.
During the day, you could slip the inner bag into another cover if you want to turn it into a chair. The process is fairly straightforward and it will only take you a couple minutes to do the task. One thing that you should expect though is that these bean bag beds can be a little bit heavy and it might take two persons to roll and squeeze it through doorways. Other than that, they are extremely handy to have around.
